Halsey is giving an open and honest account of their ever-changing physique.

Over the weekend, the 27-year-old singer appeared on Saturday Night Live, only three months after giving birth to their first child, Ender Ridley, on July 14. Halsey posted a series of pictures showing their postpartum body on Instagram on Monday to clear up misunderstandings and social expectations after being told “how wonderful I looked” following her SNL appearance.

“I’m publishing this because no matter what I do, people will comment on my appearance. It’s a perplexing symptom of being in the spotlight, so instead of complaining, I’ll offer you something genuine to speak about “Halsey started writing her caption. “I performed on Saturday Night Live two nights ago, and a lot of people complimented me on how wonderful I looked. That was an odd sensation.”

“For a long time, my body has felt like a stranger’s,” the artist said. “I hold myself to a high standard of honesty, to the point of oversharing at times, but this is something I value. The first image on this slide was taken a few days after my kid was born. Many people are unaware that you continue to seem pregnant for a while after giving birth. It’s still evolving, and I’m allowing it to.”

Halsey said that fitness isn’t on her radar right now — “I’m too weary and too busy playing with my beautiful kid,” they said — and went into detail about the work that went into their broadcast appearance.

“With that said, the body behind all those praises the other night was wearing a custom-tailored costume and was lit properly after extensive testing, so I could feel comfortable and perform my job,” Halsey said. “I don’t want to perpetuate the myth that you’re supposed to feel and look ‘perfect’ right after giving birth. Currently, it is not my story.”

Halsey went on to say that they’re OK with how their bodies are changing.

“If you’ve been following me because you’re a parent who likes what I’m doing, know that I’m rooting for you. Because I now have a kid, I will never get my “pre-pregnancy figure” back, no matter how much it changes physically! “they said “And that has changed me emotionally, spiritually, and physically for the rest of my life. That shift is irreversible. And I have no desire to return!”

“However, in the spirit of candor, I’m very weary and not a superhuman, and this is difficult,” Halsey said. “I’m doing my best to serve my art and my family while being true to myself. Love.”

Last week, Halsey, whose film If I Can’t Have Want, I Want Power is now available on HBO Max, wrote that their whole “Twitter timeline every single day is just ‘BOOBS,’ “ as admirers remark on their postpartum body: “I would love to speak about absolutely anything else!!!!” they added.

Halsey responded to commonly asked questions about the subject in a second tweet: “1. I’m nursing, therefore they look like that. 2. I can’t believe that either. 3. Yes, they are inconvenient. 4. I’m not sure whether they’ll ever go back to normal. 5. They do hurt. 6. Yes, it’s strange to have a different appearance than [sic]. I’m accustomed to some seven. Yes, I’ll most likely erase this.”

Being a mom, according to Halsey, has altered their lives in “so many ways.”

They said, “I feel bad for working, and I feel guilty when I’m not working.” “I’m afraid I’ll never be able to live up to my standards. But I’ve also had the opportunity to experience a love unlike any other, and I’ve finally learned how to ask for assistance and confess when I’m lonely or in need.”
